Do you believe that humans have an intrinsic desire for religion/the supernatural?

According to the anthropological record, humans be believin’ in religion and the supernatural, across space and time, totally independent of each other.

I’d say we can’t help it. We wanna be bigger than us.

How do you reconcile revolutionary political action, which you seem to be for with the reactionary elements of the worldview of the man who started your religion? Is the occult really the alternative to Atheism or at least Agnosticism?

I do it with gusto.

If you look at the Holy Books of Thelema themselves and you continue where they left off, you have a very revolutionary theology and philosophy that can be applied to a revolutionary praxis. Weird Uncle AL didn’t get everything right, he didn’t get almost anything “right” from a socio-political standpoint, if we care to go there. Much of Crowley’s ideas are so close to individualist-anarchism, then swing comically far right in language. When such statements are applied to literally everyone alive, it is just edgelord sounding anarchism. “I’m a monarchist and we are all kings of our kingdoms” is just a silly way of say that we have the right to rule ourselves. Crowley was reactionary as hell when it came to his personal views, which also changed frequently and dependent on who he was speaking with.

What he did nail was a by nature revolutionary theology, philosophy, and praxis, despite himself.

“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law”

“Love is the Law, Love under Will”

and

“Every man and every woman is a star”

Leave exactly ZERO room for bigotry, even Crowley’s.
